200 People attended the Pot Luck Lunch on Race Relations Day March 21, 2016
Monday 21 March is Race Relations Day, when New Zealand celebrates its cultural diversity and acknowledges both the richness and challenges it brings.
The day will be marked in Whangarei with a special lunch held at the rooms of English Language Partners at 10 Rathbone St.
Women’s International Newcomers Group Social, Citizens’ Advice Bureau Whangarei and the Whangarei Migrant Centre are co-hosting the pot luck lunch at 12.30pm, with ELP.
Anyone is welcome to bring a small plate of food to share on the day.
English Language Partners manager Jenny Huddlestone says, “Our biggest challenge is how we choose to live our lives and what kind of country we let New Zealand become. We are regarded as one of the most peaceful countries in the world, and we need to celebrate that and work towards keeping it that way by acknowledging the cultural diversity we have, and not letting it divide us.”
